Heidi Volkl is a Mental Health Professional in the community-based crisis stabilization program at Sparlin Mental Health. Basing her interventions on evidence-based practices, Heidi teaches individuals and families the skills that can help prevent out-of-home placement.
Heidi discovered her passion for working with people in their communities as an AmeriCorps member, doing case management for individuals who were affected by the EF-5 tornado in Joplin, Missouri, in 2011. Prior to moving to St. Louis for graduate school, Heidi also worked as a Case Manager for children with severe mental illnesses and completed an internship working with children in aftercare homes in Bangladesh. As a graduate student, Heidi facilitated group therapy sessions with survivors of sexual trauma during a clinical practicum at a local trauma therapy center. She is also a member of the Missouri Human Trafficking Collaborative.
Heidi is a native of southwest Missouri and most recently relocated to St. Louis from South Korea. She maintains mental wellness with a daily yoga practice and the spiritual support of her church community. Outside of her career, Heidi enjoys rock climbing, hiking, biking and traveling with her husband, Jacob.
